Black Boy By: Richard
Wright
This book the Black Boy is about Richard Wright. Richard grew up in an
African American family and he was poor growing up. He was born on a plantation
near Natchez, Mississippi, he moved several times growing up and mainly just
stayed in the southern towns. Growing up he would also work many Part-time
jobs. At fifteen he went to Memphis and earned enough money to move to Chicago and
dig ditches there, run errands, he also washed dishes, sold insurance, clerk,
and worked at the unites states post office.
This book is for people that like life stories and their journey
throughout life and how they got to where they are at now. He was always
reading and he began to write in 1936 and published a long short story “Big Boy Leaves Home”. I haven’t read the
whole thing yet but what I have read I have liked. I think this story would be
inspirational because he tells how he became famous, and his life story.
