PART 4!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I choose this book because it was kind of like a last resort because I didn't have one at first so my wonderful teacher "Ms. Bru" recommended it. I also thought the cover of the book made it some what appealing and the summary on the back kinda made me interested. The only personal connection I had with this book is the movie the Hunger Games because katniss and peter fall in love in the movie/book. I would recommend this book to people that are interested in somewhat of an intense book and a book of friendship and romance.
summer reading part 3
"Below me, the water creeps between the boulders as the tide comes in. My palm is bleeding.
I hear a sound, like a kitten mewling, or a baby screaming and I freeze." I think this quote could hook someone to read this book because it is a well written quote, it involves a lot of detail. This quote is a simile because its comparing the tide to the water creeping in on the boulders. The second part of the quote involves a sudden freeze when hearing and a kitten mewling.
summer reading part 2
In the book The Scorpio Races the two main characters Sean and Puck and it seems like they both like eachother. I think that both Sean and Puck desire eachother and also desire to win the Scorpio Race. Themes that are beginning to appear are friendship because Sean and Puck have a developing relationship. This book is structured as a narration of the characters throughout the book.

summer reading The Scorpio Races
In the book Scorpio Races it is kind of like a older time when there were knights and things like that that's what it sounds like right now in this book. The main characters in this book are Sean Kendrick and Puck Connolly. The conflict of the book would be the Scorpio Races because its an annually event held in Nov. every year and many people can die from the races. A connection I made with this book is the hunger games because it sounds like there can only be one winner. My predictions going farther are that Sean and Puck fall in love and have to help one another to survive the Scorpio Races.

Cincy Bearcats Basketball 14-15
The bearcats lost three great seniors Sean Kilpatrick, Titus Rubles, and Justin Jackson. UC is going to have some fresh faces and a new starting lineup. Cronin brought in three JUCO players that should help imrpove the cincy basketball team. One of the JUCO players is former player Octavius Ellis and he got kicked off of the UC team earlier because of the Xavier fight and because he got in trouble in a club.
Cronin also brought in Farad Cobb he shot 50% field goal average and shot 46% from the three point line. UC's big name recruits is Gary Clark and Quadri Moore, Clark is a 6 foot 7 in. power forward and Moore a 6 ft. 9 in. power forward. With only two seniors UC will be a young team with young players and will probably only have one starter from last year start. Shaq Thomas small forward will probably be the only starter. "We're going to be young but it's going to be fun" is what Cronin said about the 2014-15 team.

Finishing Downriver By Will Hobbs
In the end Troy, Rachel and all the rest of the characters get back safely and when they get back their parents are furious but they are thankful they are safe. During the process of getting back troy found a note that was from Freddy. It said that he was thankful to have such great freinds and to live a great life. When everyone got back he decided to show everyone and they were all shocked. Everyone was also mad because they were getting scared that freddy was left alone but it turned out Freddy died and didn't make it.
Troy and everyone was sad but Troy and his parents were devastated that Freddy was gone he was a close freind to Troy. All of their lifes went back to normal except seeing Freddy. Freddy's parents were also devastated but they were also thankful he was in a better place. This makes me think if there will be a sequal to this book because I would like to see what everyone ends up doing now that a good freind is dead, will there be a sequal????????

English Assignment
Krista Ramsey writes a article that talks about how football players can lower their concussion rate. Cincinnati football players use peripheral vision exercises to help the players see their blind side so they can decrease their concussion rate.
http://www.cincinnati.com/story/opinion/columnists/krista-ramsey/2014/02/01/see-the-hit-save-the-brain-gameplan-at-cautious-uc/5132851/
"Vision training, as it's called, has been around for decades, used to train Air Force pilots, rehabilitate stroke victims and improve athletic performance." In this quote she talks about the importance of your peripheral vision and how it can effect your life. She also talks about how that the Air Force even does these vision exercises so that they can protect themselves from danger.
In Ramsey's first article I read "For better vision, kids need time outdoors" it also talks about peripheral vision and how teenagers being on their phones can effect their vision by staring at their phones. "When you use less and less of the peripheral retinal cells, less and less signal gets to the brain from that area and it gets less strong or goes away." In the second article I read "Super Bowl QBs score points for great style" It talks about how Peyton Manning and Russell Wilson are bringing back the art of dressing well because they are some of the players that wear suits for post game interviews. She also talks about how the players should always dress up no matter what situation they should always look clean and groomed. "After watching New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick slouch off the field in hia cutoff hoodie, it's been heartening to see players like Wilson show up perfectly groomed for post-game interview."
Three questions i would ask Krista Ramsey
1. Why did you choose these topics?
2. How long does it usually take you to write these columns?
3. Did you get to meet Russell Wilson or Peyton Manning?

New Book! Down River By Will Hobbs
So i finally got a book and it looks like a pretty good book judging by the cover. I am not to far into it but I will blog about what I know so far in the book. This book is about a Group of freinds that go on a rafting trip with no map and no adults. It turns out that the group of freinds made a big mistake with no map or no adults they wouldn't know how to survive. The group of freinds abandon some of their freinds and go explore the caves and water falls that could be very dangerous.
The group gets lost and none of them have great survival skills and they don't know what to do and who is going to take charge. Troy a young man decides he will lead the group and try to get them back to safety. Troy gets the group through tough opsticles to help them survive and for some reason everyone is afraid of his leadership. Troy is also seen as a magnetic leader because he brings energy to the group and always tells them that they can do it no matter how tough it is.

Finishing up Ironman
Last time I blogged I blogged about how Bo's Dad was trying to hire people to beat him up. Bo is going to be in a dog sledding race against a person named "Wyrak" and Bo and Wyrak got into a little fight. Bo and his freind Lar get some sledding dogs and train them so they can be at there best for the upcoming race. Before the Race Bo and Wyrak are talking a bunch of smack talk to eachother before the Race.
Bo loses the race to Wyrak and he feels good about himslef because his dad said he couldnt do it but he came in 2nd towards the end. After the Race Bo's Principle said that he can stop taking anger manegement classes. The next day Bo gets sent down to the principles office and he talks to Bo about how he told him to stop taking the anger manegment classes and Bo said that Mr. Nak said he could because there was plenty of space. It turns out that Bo wanted to stay because he felt scared and he wanted to stay away from his dad for awhile

Ironman Part 3
My last post about Ironman was about how they should make valentine boxes and and Mr. Nak started telling a story. Where I am at now Bo just recieved a valentines day card from a random person that knows alot about Bo. In the card it says that Bo is Ironman and it shows biking gloves and biking shoes to show that he supports him and supports him for what he's going through. Also in the card the person says that his dad is not his freind and he should keep an eye on him.
bo's freind Lar tells him that his Dad is dealing with some bad people and giving them free 5,000 dollar bikes. Lar thinks that they were the people that tried to beat him up. Now Bo thinks that those people are going to try to beat him up and he thinks his Dad hired them. Mr. Nak thinks that Bo should keep an eye on his Dad and try to stay out of trouble. Mr. Nak offers help after school with his anger problems and gives him advice.

Ironman 2nd Post
My last post on Ironman was while ago but since here is a recap of that post. Bo is fighting with his Dad and trains himself to the limit to become a triathlete . Bo fights with his Dad so he lets his anger out on his teachers by yelling at them and Bo had to start taking anger manegement classes. Since then Bo has met a teacher he kinda like named Mr.Nak and the part im at in the book Mr.Nak talks about valentines day. Mr.Nak recommends that the class should make the boxes to put valentines in like how they did when they were kids.
Mr.Nak tells the class a story about a kid that was fighting with his parents and one day his Dad disappeared and he didnt realize how much he missed him until he was gone. In this I think Mr.Nak is trying to get Bo to apperciate his Dad because he will never know when he will be gone. Right now I am on page 199 and my prediction for the book right now is that Bo will start appreciating his Dad and come to his senses and start connecting with him.

Final Assessment
Ironman
Ironman is about a boy named Bo. Bo has been
fighting with his dad for a while, and has turned his anger towards his
teachers in outbursts. Bo trains him self to the limit as a triathlete. Bo is
really close to being expelled from school because of all these outbursts with
his teachers. Soon enough Bo gets assigned to anger management.
So far this book has been good but I still need to finish the book I am still in the beginning. My guess right now is that Bo freaks out and a whole incident happens in school but this book seems like an exciting book. Another prediction I have is that Bo will have a big fight with his dad.

1.
In this post it shows
my voice because it describes the book in my voice and how I would put it in my
own words. “Bo is really close to being expelled from school because of all
these outbursts with his teachers.” In this quote it shows how I use the word
outbursts as important word that show these little outbursts of anger from his
Dad. My personality in this is probably like how I emphasis the word outbursts
with his Dad and his teachers. This word helps set how important his anger is
in the story.
2.
Example of syntax for
# 2. “Bo has been fighting with his dad for a while, and has turned his anger
towards his teachers in outbursts.” This piece of syntax could be a balance sentence
because their likeness in length. An example for Diction in #2. “Bo trains him
self to the limit as a triathlete.” In this piece of Diction it could be a piece
of Jargon/ low informal because you don’t hear triathlete a lot and a
triathlete is “A triathlon
is a multiple-stage competition involving the completion
of three continuous and sequential endurance disciplines.[1]
While many variations of the sport exist, triathlon, in its most
popular form, involves swimming, cycling, and running in
immediate succession over various distances.” http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triathlete

What I plan on reading next
I wanted to read a biography about something that is based on historic events. So i found a book called Maus and its about a person that survives the Holocaust and is a cartoonist and lives to tell his story. I also want to read this because there are sequal's to it so I can read these books for a while. The books about historic events interest me so I'm still looking for books like this one.
Maus 2 is about his complete life story and about what he moved on to do in his life and how he got married and had kids. I am still looking for books so if you have any recomendations just comment and i will consider it. The type of books I like are historic books and sport books about a sport players life.

Fahrenheit 451
Fahrenheit 451 is a futuristic book about a fireman Montag
where his job is to burn books. Clarisse is Montag’s wife and Clarisse tried to
commit suicide by overdosing on pills. When she wakes up Montag asks her why
she overdouced and she doesn’t remember him or trying to overdose.
Montag meets a girl named Mildred and Mildred makes Montag
think about why he burns books and why he has never read one before either.
Montag eventually begins to question why he burns books and he starts to hide
books and starts reading them. Clarisse dies in a car crash and her whole
family disappears and no one can find them. I haven’t read the whole thing yet
but this is as much as I can say.
